A dozen games would be played tomorrow at the Ministry of Education ground where the annual Courts Pee Wee football competition will kick off during the afternoon period.

Over the years, the tournament, coordinated by the Petra Organisation, has served as a feeder to the national youth programme as eager youngsters, keen to make a name for themselves in the sport, are given a chance to showcase their skills.

It also allows schools to foster a sense of camaraderie as students, teachers and parents would come out in their numbers to support their institutions.

Much of the same is expected over the next couple of weekends as the eighth annual tournament gets into full swing. The first set of matches will get cracking on Saturday September 21, with kick-off being 13:00h.

Timehri will play St. Ambrose and St. Agnes will confront Beterverwagting in the opening two games, which would happen simultaneously.

This would be followed by Uitvlugt against Ann’s Grove and Soesdyke versus F.E. Pollard, while Mocha will take on Tucville and South Ruimveldt will challenge Genesis.

St. Pius and Mae’s will go head-to-head, followed by West Ruimveldt against Craig, Marian Academy versus St. Margaret’s, Enterprise against Smith’s Memorial, St. Stephen’s against J.E. Burnham and North Ruimveldt versus Redeemer Primary.

Teams have been placed in six groups, with the top two and four best third place group finishers advancing to the Round-of-16. From there, no more teams will be eliminated, but rather play for positions one to 16 until the finale on November 2.
