A 35-year-old fruit vendor Monday appeared before the Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan for sexually assaulting a young girl.
Devon Mohammed was not required to plea to the charge which alleged that between August 1, 2017 and August 31, 2017 in Georgetown, he engaged in sexual activity with a child under the age of 16, by rubbing between her thigh and vagina.
He was released on $100,000 bail and will return to court on October 14, 2019.
According to reports, Mohammed is known to the victim and her family. The child told her parents that Mohammed touched her inappropriately and a report was made to the police.
