Wanted Berbice man stabbed to death

Two men remain in the lockups at Reliance in Berbice for the weekend killing of a man they claimed tried to rob them early Sunday morning.

Dead is Delroy James called Slant eye of Angoy’s Avenue, New Amsterdam.

Reports are that Nizam Balgobin called Pepsi, 53, a mechanic of 184 Victoria Street, Cumberland, East Canje Berbice and his friend Anthony Carter, 18, of 88 Main Street Cumberland East Canje, were attacked by James as they left a bar at Coberg Street, New Amsterdam. The men tried to resist and a fight ensued.

The incident occurred at Main Street, New Amsterdam in the vicinity of Metro Office Supplies and the Lutheran Church.

Balgobin was reportedly cuffed to the left eye by his attacker and had to seek medical attention.

After the scuffle public spirited citizens rushed James to the Hospital after they saw him bleeding.

Balgobin and Carter went to the Central Police Station to lodge a report of the attack.

It was while at the station that the Police learnt that James succumbed to stabbed wounds he received from the scuffle. Balgobin and Carter were then placed in custody.

New Room understands that James was known to the Police over several accusations and was wanted for questioning regarding a recent assault.
