A 35-year-old miner was on Monday remanded to prison by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan for killing his brother-in-law during a drinking spree at Warmadong Village, Kamarang River, Region Seven on September 15.

Anthony Edwards was not required to plea to the capital offence of murder committed against Doreian Brown.

Police Prosecutor Gordon Mansfield told the court that the file and post mortem report were outstanding in the matter.

The Chief Magistrate remanded Edwards to prison and transferred the matter to Kamarang Magistrate’s Court for December 16, 2019.

According to reports, on the day in question the two men were consuming alcohol when an argument ensued between them.

It is alleged that Edwards became annoyed, armed himself a knife and wounded Brown to his upper arm.

Brown was rushed to the Warmadong Health Center and died while receiving treatment.
