Bhaskar Yadram among the runs in Volcanoes practice game

Guyanese cricketer Bhaskar ‘Sachin’ Yadram was among the runs on Monday when the Windward Islands Volcanoes played the first in a series of practice games in preparation for the upcoming Colonial Medical Insurance Super50 Cup in November.

In the match played at the Grenada National Cricket Stadium, Yadram’s side Sunil Ambris XI lost to Kirk Edwards XI by 104 runs.

Set a target of 256 in a match reduced to 30 overs per side, Sunil Ambris XI were dismissed for 151 in 28.4 overs with the right-handed Yadram hitting a top score of 49, inclusive of three fours and three sixes.

West Indies player Sunil Ambris scored 43 (6x4s) as his side fell way short of the target.

Earlier, Yadram took one of the two wickets to fall for Kirk Edwards XI, who racked up 255-2 with former Test batsman Devon Smith hitting 11 fours and nine sixes in an unbeaten 132.

Desron Maloney chipped in with 69 not out (4x4s, 3x6s) and Emmanuel Stewart made an unbeaten 26. Yadram took 1-31 and Kem Charles 1-48.

The 20-year-old Yadram, who has played eight List A matches and two First-Class games, is a former Guyana and West Indies Under-19 player. He was drafted by the Windward Islands Volcanoes as their overseas pick for the 2019-2020 regional season.
