Limacol Football: Conquerors U-20, Riddim Squad to clash in semi-final

The final four have been decided in the Limacol Football tournament and it spells for some high octane action come Saturday.

One of those semi-finals will pit a talented Fruta Conquerors Under-20 against a seasoned Riddim Squad unit. Conquerors Under-20 lads continue to have a merry time in this tournament. They are unbeaten after four matches.

Not only have they won, but they have done so quite handsomely, and their latest success was a 3-1 triumph over Timerhi Panthers at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.

Captain Nicholas McArthur continued his stellar run and clattered two to the back of the net, firstly in the fifth minute, then six minutes later.

It was the only major action for the first half. In the second stanza, national player Ryan Hackett made his mark in the 75th minute.

Junior Adams netted a consolation goal for Panthers in the 90th.

The other match of the night produced a more frenetic ending with Riddim Squad and Mahaica Determinators having to go to penalties.

Riddim Squad’s Kevin Gordon was the first to the score sheet with a strike in the 12th minute only to see the pocket-sized forward Eon Abel unleash one of his powerful strikes to draw it level in the 25th.

A second half of chances and extra time could still not break the deadlock.

They will now play the Conquerors Under-20 team in the first semi-final on Saturday from 19:00h followed by Pele FC and Santos Under-20 from 21:00h.

At stake will be $400,000 for first, while second to fourth will pocket $200,000, $100,000 and $50,000 respectively.
