An 18-year-old member of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) was on Monday found dead at Tucville Squatting Area, Georgetown.
Police said Olijah Chesney of Lot 562 D Field Sophia, Greater Georgetown, was shot and killed by person or persons unknown.
The incident occurred at about 11:50hrs.
Chesney was found clad in white t-shirt, black pants and blue hoodie along with a white hat.
The News Room understands that a female who was nearby heard a gunshot shortly before the body was discovered.
Police said the body, which is now at the Georgetown Public Hospital Mortuary, bore two suspected gunshot wounds.
