Police are investigating the robbery of a 42-year-old businesswoman who was shot in her leg by a lone gunman Wednesday at the C&F Harbour Bridge Mall.
Injured is Melia Singh of Diamond, East Bank Demerara. The incident occurred at around.10:05hrs when Singh was about to open her business place. She was confronted by the bandit who was waiting in front of the Harbour Bridge mall at the southern entrance.
The businesswoman operates a pawn shop at the mall. Regional Police Commander, Kurleigh Simon told the News Room that a bag was taken from the woman during the robbery, but the Police have not yet confirmed its contents.
Singh was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where she is receiving treatment.
