Nine matches to kick-off GT Beer Keep Your Five Alive

Over the next three weeks 24 teams will battle for supremacy in the seventh annual GT Beer Keep Your Five Alive Futsal Football tournament at the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue, with nine matches on Thursday, and another nine on Saturday at the same venue.

Teams from Georgetown, West Demerara, East Coast and East Bank will be in action for a top prize of $550,000 and the championship trophy with the finals set for November 9.

Nine matches will be played in Thursday’s opening night of competition when Upsetters will battle Bad-A-Yard, North East will play Back Circle, Leopold Street will square off with Avacado Ballers, Showstoppers will meet LA Ballers, BV will collide with Stabroek Ballers, Tiger Bay will be up against Melanie, Bent Street will oppose Broad Street, Alexander Village will face off Old School Ballers and Sparta will take on Charlotte Street.

The tournament is being sponsored by GT Beer and Founder/Coordinator of the tournament Kevin Adonis received the sponsorship cheque during a presentation at Thirst Park. He thanked Banks DIH Limited for sponsoring the tournament once again.

According to Adonis, that tournament will be played on a round-robin format this year with four teams each competing in six groups with the winners advancing to the knockout round.

First round matches will also be played next Tuesday and Thursday before the knockout stage gets underway.

The winning team will get $550,000, second place $250,000, third $125,000 and $75,000.
