Shawn Persaud backs Supra to challenge GT-R
Shawn Persaud, who in the past has fronted challenges to Team Mohamed’s black GT-R, commonly called Goliath, is the architect behind the steaming rise of Deryck Jaisingh’s Toyota Supra which seems to be the new locally-built beast.
As such, the S&D Performance powered Supra is creating a serious hype over its possible power and ability to pip Goliath on Sunday at South Dakota Circuit.
During a News Room visit to the base at Sarah Johanna, East Bank Demerara, on Friday, Persaud expressed confidence on their level of readiness.
“We got the Supra working really well now and I am hoping to go out and give the fans a really good time, and we will produce some good times as well. Our driver and owner is performing really well so I am confident of this race meet.”
According to Persaud, they did a lot of work to get the car down to low eights, which should give Jaisingh a good shot at possibly beating the GT-R.
“Most of the work was on the basic set up, after that was tuning and testing…we are confident of a good race with the GT-R, it should be a really good race.”
Apart from the Supra, Persaud said the Toyota Caldinas himself and son Damion use are fully fixed and ready to race.
The action will speed off at 09:00h. General admission tickets cost $1,000 each, VIP $4,000 each; children under 10 would be admitted free.
Additionally, GMR&SC and the Rotary Club of Demerara have teamed up to make a positive impact in October, the month that is designated globally towards cancer awareness.
The two organisations plan to donate 10% of the gate receipt to the Beacon Foundation to assist with the care and treatment of cancer patients.
