A man whose body was discovered in a drain at Patentia on the West Bank of Demerara (WBD) on Monday has been identified as 57-year-old Abdool Ghannie called Dennis or ‘Fulla’ of Patentia, WBD.
Ghannie’s body was discovered at around 09:45 hrs on Monday, clad in short blue jeans with a plastic bag tied around his head. The body was identified by his cousin on Wednesday.
Police said a neighbour of the victim has since confessed to the killing.
Investigators questioned the neighbour extensively where he admitted that Ghannie was at his home on Saturday night when they had a misunderstanding. He told the police that dealt Ghannie several cuffs to the face, causing him to receive injuries.
It is understood that on Sunday night, the suspect tied a plastic bag over Ghannie’s head and dumped the body in the drain.
An autopsy on Wednesday found that Ghannie died from Brain hemorrhage and Blunt trauma to head compounded by Branco Asperation of blood.
