Unity man bludgeoned to death with hammer

Police are investigating the murder of a 35-year-old man of Unity, East Coast Demerara (ECD) which occurred at about 18:30hrs on Tuesday.

Arvin Dipchand a.k.a Krishna was taken to the Mahaicony Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival after being struck to the head with a hammer.

Assistant Commissioner Royston Andries-Junor told the News Room that the suspect, who is a relative of the victim, is in custody assisting with the investigation.

Andries-Junor, who is the Regional Commander, said the two men were involved in an altercation when the murder occurred.
