ANSA McAL Trading, through its Lucozade brand, has joined hands with the Petra Organisation to stage the second annual GUYOIL Under-18 football tournament, which is set to kick off on Sunday with two matches.

Games will take place at the Ministry of Education ground, the venue where the partnership between two sides was sealed on Thursday afternoon.

Co-director of the Petra Organisation, Troy Mendonca, welcomed Luzocade for the second year in succession, noting that their involvement should not only be seen as an opportunity to promote the brand.

“It’s an investment that fits directly into the portfolio of a footballing nation which is grassroot sport, which is setting a proper foundation for players at the school level,” Mendonca explained.

He added, “Hopefully, some of these players go on to represent the country. It (this competition) allows the players to develop physically, to interact with their peers and meet new friends…so I think this investment is all about human development.”

Fharis Mohamed, ANSA McAL Trading’s Non-Alcoholic Brand Manager, said the company fully endorses the tournament since its focus is at the heart of youth development through sport.

On Sunday, St. John’s will take on St. Stanislaus in the opening game at 16:30h, followed by Charlestown against Queen’s College at 18:00h.

Three games are slated for Monday, the first of which starts at 13:00h featuring Cummings Lodge and President’s College. Lodge Secondary will play Marian Academy at 14:30h and Annandale will take on Bishops High at 16:00h.
