A father of five was on Tuesday sentenced to 18 years imprisonment by Justice Simone Morris-Ramlall for raping a girl under the age of 16 two years ago in the mining town of Linden, Region 10.
Kenrick Hector, 36, was found guilty by a 12-member jury for raping the child during November 2017.
It was the State’s case that Hector pinned the child on his bed and committed the gruesome act.
Hector, however, continues to maintain his innocence.
“I respect your decision…but I’m not guilty,” Hector told the jury.
The victim in her impact statement said that she is still traumatized by what Hector did and she would often cry when she is alone.
She also wished for him to go to jail.
