Pee Wee: Genesis, St. Agnes to play final after North Georgetown is disqualified

The penultimate round of the Courts Pee Wee School Football tournament provided drama both on and off the field as the North Georgetown Primary lads were disqualified on Tuesday, meaning Genesis Harmony Primary and St. Agnes Primary will play the final.

Former finalist St. Agnes will now have their chance to lift a title just as Genesis Harmony, whose final berth was quite fortuitous.

After losing Saturday’s semi-final to North Georgetown 0-2, the Petra Organisation revealed Tuesday that a protest was lodged by the Genesis Harmony School at conclusion of the semi-final.

According to the release, the protest was against players Akeem Joyce and Cristino Rhodius, both of whom participated in the semi-final for North Georgetown Primary, and being above the eligible age.

“The Petra Organisation thereafter perused our 2017 and 2018 registration records and confirmed Genesis’s protest as being true and accurate,” the organisers said in a statement on Tuesday.

They further stated, “Regrettably, this has resulted in the elimination of the North Georgetown from the tournament who are guilty of using ineligible players in the competition under different alias. In addition, Coach Aubrey Mckenzie has been suspended for (2) two years, from engaging and/or coaching any team or school that is participating in any tournament coordinated by the Petra Organisation.”

St. Agnes qualified after they toppled inaugural finalist Tucville 2-0 in extra time with the scorers being Shane Dalrymple and Cleon London.

The final and other placement matches will be staged on Saturday November 2 at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.
