Taxi driver robbed of car, cash at gunpoint

Police are on the hunt for two men who robbed a 24-year-old taxi driver at gunpoint of G$13,000 cash and his Toyota 212 car on Thursday night.

The News Room understands that Mohamed Khan is attached to the D and L taxi service located at the Guyoil Gas Station at La Grange, West Bank Demerara; at around 21:00hrs a male asked to be taken to the village of Crane.

On the way to Crane, the passenger asked Khan to stop and collect a friend at La Grange and they proceeded to Best Road when it is alleged that the friend who was in the back seat, pointed a gun to the driver’s head and demanded that heh and over all his money.

The taxi driver told the Police that he handed over all the money and managed to jump out of the car and ran out towards the West Demerara Regional Hospital where he told the security guard what happened.

The Police were informed and the car was found abandoned in the parking lot of the Leonora Hospital.
