Cutlass wielding bandits attack, rob young sales clerk

Two young men are in Police custody after they were caught on surveillance camera choking and robbing an 18-year-old sales clerk at a gas station on Friday night at Lima, Essequibo Coast.

Ashely Kelly told Police that she was balancing the daily cash at around 20:30 hrs when the two men, both wearing hoodies and armed with a cutlass, entered the gas station.

She said one of the men choked her while the other had the cutlass in his hand and demanded the day’s sales.

The young lady, who has been working at the gas station for some four months now, said she pointed to the desk drawer and the bandits escaped with $122,000 in cash.

The ordeal was caught on the surveillance cameras of the gas station. The News Room understands that the suspects were arrested at the Anna Regina car park; the victim positively identified them based on their clothing, which was also captured on video.

Police said the two suspects had in their possession $30,000 in 100 and 1000 notes.
