Hung jury for man accused of raping teen at knife-point
A 62-year-old Kitty, Georgetown resident will have to face another trial after a 12-member jury was unable to reach a verdict in his case Tuesday after almost two hours of deliberation at the Sexual Offences Court.
Pretty-Paul Mohan is accused of raping a 13-year-old girl in 2015 at knife-point.
Mohan known as Neville was on trial before Justice Simone Morris-Ramlall. It is alleged that he raped the child between November 1-30, 2015.
Justice Morris-Ramlall told Mohan that he will have to face another trial at the next practical sitting of the Demerara Assizes; he will remain on bail.
Mohan was represented by Attorney-at-law Satesh Kissoon while the State’s case was presented by Prosecutor Tariq Mohammed.
