President’s College and Lodge Secondary were among the winning teams when the GuyOil/Tradewind Tankers Under-18 School Football League continued over the weekend at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.

President’s College topped Charlestown Secondary 4-1 in an entertaining contest on Monday.

The lads from Golden Grove showcased great nimbleness and had some enterprising plays from Vernon Lawson, who despite not getting on the score sheet created the opportunities for goals.

Allister Henry (23rd), Jushawn Bayley (27th), Shalom Chislom (48th) and Breon Allicock (60th) were the goalscorers for PC, while Tariq Pryce scored a brilliant goal by cutting behind two defenders in the 58th.

Meanwhile, Troyston Louisy’s double helped Lodge to a comprehensive 4-0 triumph over St. John’s College. Louisy netted in the 32nd then 64th and had ample support from Nicolas Trotman (24th) and Joshua Denny (30th).

Sunday saw defending champions Annandale Secondary beating Cummings Lodge 8-0 via hat-tricks from Colin Henriques and Seon Haywood and a double from Omari Glasgow.

Bishops’ High edged St. Stanislaus 2-1 with the ever-impressive Malachi Richards, a former student of St. Stanislaus, netting in the ninth and 27th minutes, while Josiah King scored in the 22nd.

A Ricardo Percival’s strike in the 10th minute allowed Marian Academy to continue their winning form with a 1-0 triumph over Queen’s College.

Matches continue on Sunday and Monday at the Ministry of Education ground.

Financial constraints mean the prizes have been reduced to $200,000 for first, and $100,000, $50,000 and $25,000 respectively for second to fourth.

The top two teams would qualify for the KFC Goodwill tournament in December, which features teams from Trinidad and Tobago, French Guiana and Regions Seven and Nine in Guyana.
