Thirty-four-year old Rajen Dindial of Diamond New Scheme, East Bank Demerara was on Wednesday found guilty of killing a man with a paddle during a dispute at a wedding house at Grove, East Bank Demerara (EBD) in 2017.

Dindial was on trial for murder before Justice Jo-Ann Barlow and a 12-member jury at the High Court; he was found not guilty of murder but guilty of manslaughter.

He had pleaded not guilty to the offence which stated that on September 3, 2017, he murdered Aliston Henry.

Dindial was represented by Attorneys-at-law Nigel Hughes and Sophia Findlay while the State was represented by Prosecutor Sarah Martin.

The matter is adjourned to November 28, 2019, for a probation report and sentencing.

According to reports, on the day in question, the two men were involved in an argument at the wedding house during which Henry pushed down a portable toilet.

Dindial retaliated and armed himself with a wooden food paddle and hit Henry about his body.

The injured Henry was placed in a push cart and taken home by public spirited persons and subsequently transported to the hospital where he died days later.
