GBA concludes Trophy Stall age group badminton tournament


The Guyana Badminton Association’s (GBA) Trophy Stall-sponsored annual age group tournament was played off at the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue, on Saturday, with champions crowned in the Under-9 to Under-17 categories.

The GBA said it is extremely pleased to see the interest in the number of players who turned out to take part in this tournament.

“We are extremely pleased also to see players from Linden taking part from the Mackenzie High School. The GBA donated a number of equipment last August to the Sports Coordinator of the school for them to start back Badminton and the programme is already being develop there,” the GBA said in a statement.

Below are the summarised results from the various categories (players appear in the order they finish).

Under-9 Boys Singles: Narayan Goodridge, Nathan Hercules

Under-9 Girls Singles: Gianna Ramnarine, Jessica Mootoveren, Jaselle Billey

Under-11 Boys Singles: Avinash Ramnarine, Ruel Rambirche, Narayan Goodridge

Under-11 Girl Singles: Hailey Choo-A-Fat, Demya Griffith, Isabella Rodrigues

Under-13 Boys Singles: Leron Ramascindo, Ruel Rambriche, Avinash Ramnarine

Under-13 Girls Singles: Mishka Beharry, Emily Choo-A-Fat, Alea Ruplal

Under-15 Boys Singles: Matthew Beharry, Zeng Qi Wang, Leron Ramascindo

Under-17 Boys Singles: Matthew Beharry, Tyrese Thornhill, Rodwell Halley

Under-17 Girls Singles: Jayde DaSilva, Mishka Beharry, Alea Ruplal

“The GBA would like to thank Mr. Ramesh Sunich for making this tournament possible once again for the prizes and Ms. Ayanna Watson of Sol Petroleum for ensuring all the participants got a gift. Also congrats to the GBA executives and badminton members for a job well done,” the GBA added.

Meanwhile, the Under-19 Boys and Girls Singles and Open Men and Ladies Doubles will be held in December and all players are asked to start preparing for the last local tournament of 2019.
