Police are investigating the death of a Venezuelan national who was stabbed by men on bicycles who were attempting to rob him a short distance from the Grove Police Station.
The incident occurred at the Grove Public Road, East Bank Demerara (EBD) just after midnight Sunday.
Police said the 22-year-old victim was sitting on the Western side of the Public Road when he was approached by two men on bicycles. One of the suspects brandished a knife demanding that the victim hand over his property; a scuffle ensued between them and the victim was stabbed twice.
He was rushed to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre and was pronounced dead on arrival.
