Chandrapaul Hemraj’s second List A hundred and a solid supporting effort were good enough to spur Guyana Jaguars to a 22-run win over Windward Islands Volcanoes, despite a fighting effort from Kaveem Hodge and Alick Athanaze.

In the Group B Super50 contest at the Queen’s Park Oval on Tuesday, Jaguars posted 294-9 off the allotted 50 and then restricted Volcanoes to 272-8.

Jaguars total was built on a record 171-run opening partnership between Hemraj and Tagenarine Chanderpaul, who made 64 off 100 balls. But Hemraj (100) and Leon Johnson (0) followed with the score still on 171, before Christopher Barnwell and Raymon Reifer added some impetus to the innings, making 38 off 27 and 52 off 32 respectively.

In reply, Volcanoes seemed on course for victory when skipper Hodge and Athanaze combined to add 146 for the third wicket. However, after Athanaze was dismissed for 63, Jaguars pulled things back, despite Hodge going on to make 123.

Reifer, Ronsford Beaton and Gudakesh Motie had two wickets each. Also recording wins on Tuesday were USA and Leeward Islands Hurricanes.

    Below are the summarised scores.
