Fresh of winning the Limacol Football tournament, Fruta Conquerors Under-20 will turn their attention to the Turbo straight knockout competition, which kicks off on Friday (November 22) at 19:00h at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.
They will come up against a Police B team from 21:00h in the second match of the opening night of the tournament.
There were other matches in the tournament, but those were to eliminate teams to reach to the final 16.
The Tucville-based team, consisting of the core of Guyana’s youth teams, will once again look to those young talents to carry them through this tournament.
In the opening match, the seasoned unit of Riddim Squad will battle Eagles United from 19:00h.
Pele Football Club, Bacons Football Club, Buxton Stars FC, Mahaica Determinators, Northern Rangers, Timerhi Panthers FC, Pouderoyen FC, Uitvuglt FC, Santos FC U-20, Buxton FC U-20 and Georgetown Football Club are the other participating teams.
They will battle for the $400,000 first place, while second to fourth will pocket $200,000, $100,000 and $50,000 respectively. Prizes will also be awarded to the Most Valuable Player, Highest Goalscorer and Best Goalkeeper.
National Under-20 Coach Wayne Dover noted the timely nature of events hosted by the Petra Organisation has given them opportunities to scout for youth players through the inclusion of Under-20 teams from the Elite League clubs.
