Two years jail for stabbing friend in the neck

A 25-year-old fisherman was on Thursday sentenced to two years imprisonment by City Magistrate Rholdel Weaver for stabbing his friend with a knife to the neck during a drinking spree.

Kevin Allicock of James Street, Albouystown, Georgetown was found guilty following a trial.

The court heard that on April 17, 2019, at Georgetown, he unlawfully wounded Joseph Barker with intent to maim, disfigure, or cause grievous bodily harm.

According to reports, both parties live in the same village and are friends and on the day in question, they were consuming alcohol together at a shop in Albouystown when it is alleged that Allicock pulled out a knife and stabbed Barker to the neck.

The injured man was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital in a critical condition.
