Twenty-one-year old Lance Corporal Travis Curry is this year’s youngest member of the Guyana Police Force (GPF) to graduate from the University of Guyana.

Curry graduated last Saturday with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management which he passed with a distinction. He is also the holder of a Diploma in Banking and Finance from the University of Guyana.

Lance Corporal Curry, who is currently stationed at the Guyana Police Cooperative Credit Union Inc., joined the Force on May 6, 2016, and was promoted to his current rank in January 2019, according to the GPF.

Prior to joining the Force, the Lance Corporal wrote nine subjects at the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) examination and secured eight passes.

In a brief interview with the Force’s Public Relations Unit, Lance Corporal Curry, reflected on his achievement and noted that it was difficult to juggle work and study.

He remembered spending Sundays and holidays on campus to study but said he remains thankful for all the support he received from friends, family and Officers-in-charge of the Credit Union including Assistant Superintendent Reynold Venture and previous manager Deputy Superintendent Angela Harding who extended leniency in support to his development.

The young man, who once aspired to become a pilot, now looks forward to the Force establishing an Aviation Section.

Curry said, “I hope to be amongst the first batch of ranks being trained to become pilots for the Guyana Police Force”.

The Guyana Police Force extended congratulations to Lance Corporal Curry on his accomplishment and wished him well in his future endeavours. (Modified press release from Guyana Police Force)
