Construction worker, wife arrested after 6-hour raid in North Sophia

Police Headquarters in a statement Monday said a construction worker and his reputed wife were arrested following a six-hour intelligence operation in North Sophia that led to the seizure of weapons and ammunition.

The successful operation was led by ranks stationed at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Headquarters.

The operation started at 22:30hrs Sunday and also resulted in the discovery of a quantity of local and foreign currencies; two unlicensed firearms (an AK47 assault rifle and a pistol); sixty-six live ammunition and more than thirty-two kilograms of suspected cannabis.

Police said a third suspect is currently being sought and will provide a further update into this investigation.
