A 56-year-old man is now dead following an accident which occurred on the Essequibo Coast on Friday.
According to the Police, Beshnam Ramnarine of Devonshire Castle, Essequibo Coast was driving motorcycle CJ 7313 on the Windsor Castle Public Road when he collided with a minibus BTT 9094, driven by a 38 -year- old of Affiance.
The accident occurred at about 15:45hrs on Friday.
Initial enquiries found that the minibus was proceeding in a northern direction on the road while the motorcycle was travelling closely behind. The minibus driver suddenly applied brakes causing the motorcycle to collide with the rear of the minibus.
The minibus driver told Police that a hire car stopped suddenly in front of him causing him to apply brakes when he felt a heavy impact to the right side rear of his vehicle.
As a result of the impact, Ramnarine lost control of his motorcycle and ended up in the path of minibus BTT 9575 proceeding in the opposite direction. Police explained that to avoid colliding with the second minibus, Ramnarine’s motorcycle struck the side of minibus BTT 9490.
Ramnarine was picked up in an unconscious condition and taken to the Suddie Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
