Nurse in critical condition following Essequibo Coast accident

A 35-year-old nurse is in a critical condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital following an accident Friday on the Queenstown Public Road, Essequibo Coast.

The News Room understands that Darcia Bissoon of Bartica, Region Seven who is attached to the Suddie Public Hospital was crossing the road at about 07:30hrs when she was struck down by motorcar HC 5087 driven by a 63-year-old resident of Golden Fleece.

Police said the car was proceeding in a northern direction with four passengers while Bissoon was standing on the roadside. Daniels told Police ranks that he honked his horn upon noticing the pedestrian and alleged that Bissoon ran across the road and into the path of the car.

The nurse received injuries to the head and other parts of the body; she was picked up in an unconscious condition by the driver and taken to the Suddie Hospital.

Bissoon was transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital where she is a patient in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) suffering from head injuries.

The driver of the vehicle was served with a notice of intended prosecution.
