GT man caught with crystal meth, ecstasy pills after Suriname trip

Moments after arriving from neighbouring Suriname via the backtrack route, a Guyanese man was arrested Friday morning with over 254 grams of crystal meth and 100 ecstasy pills by ranks of the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU).

Collis Steve Burrowes of Norton Street, Georgetown was arrested at around 08:00hrs, CANU said in a statement on Saturday night.

Burrowes was intercepted at Golden Gloves Speed Boat Service, Springlands Corentyne Berbice, where he was searched and the illegal drugs found wrapped in clothing that was inside a haversack he was carrying.

Both crystal meth and ecstasy pills are highly addictive illegal stimulants used for recreational purposes.
