With the city council of Georgetown set to elect a new Mayor on Wednesday, Ubraj Narine says it is a “very great place to work.”

Addressing a statutory meeting on Monday, the Mayor said there needs to be a lot of changes in the administration in order for the Council to function efficiently.

“In my tenure, I took office in January 2019 and in my assessment or analyzing the Council it is a very great place to work and it’s about changes need to make with the officers, with the employees and if we have those kind of changes this council can do tremendous things,” Mayor Narine said.

He encouraged the councillors to work for the benefit of the people and the citizens of Georgetown.

The Mayor also announced that he will be hosting an award ceremony later this month to recognise the exemplary contributions of the employees.

“I will present four awards to the committee levels for a dedicated chairman, outstanding chairman; departmental award and also voluntary award and those awards will announce later this year,” the Mayor said.

The Mayor clarified that these awards will not be issued by the Council but from him, personally because he believes in showing appreciation.
