Three bandits armed with guns and cutlasses carried out a daring robbery on an overseas-based Guyanese and his wife moments after they arrived at their John’s East Berbice Corentyne home from the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA) just after midnight Monday.

The victims remain in a terrified state and were reluctant to speak with the media since they were reportedly cautioned by the Police “not to disclose any details.”

The News Room was reliably informed that the bandits robbed the couple of US$7000 in cash, a number of security cameras that they brought into the country and their hand luggage.

According to information received, the bandits made their move when the vehicle stopped in front of the house at around 01:00hrs; they were reportedly hiding in the neighbour’s yard.

The News Room understands that the bandits took away the keys of the vehicle from the driver and began to beat the overseas-based man to hand over the cash and valuables.

An investigation has been launched and several persons were held for questioning.

The victims asked for their names not to be published.
