Trophy Stall is the latest corporate entity to support the second KFC Goodwill Under-18 School Football tournament, which commences on Saturday.

On Wednesday at the South Road location, the company donated all the winners’ trophies and medals to the Petra Organisation.

It is a continuation of Trophy Stall’s overwhelming benevolence to sport in Guyana by assisting a blossoming tournament, which seeks to bridge the gap between Guyana’s school football talents to those of their regional counterparts.

Co-Director of the Petra Organisation, Troy Mendonca, was on hand to receive the trophies and expressed immense gratitude for the work of the entity, noting they have helped to impact positively the lives of young athletes in Guyana.

The participating teams are defending champions Shiva Boys of Trinidad and Tobago, USL Montjoly of French Guiana, hinterland teams Annai Secondary and Waramadong Secondary and the top two teams in the ongoing GuyOil Under-18 League, Lodge and Annandale.

According to Mendonca, it will be a good test for the local teams to see where they are as compared to their compatriots abroad.

The six teams are placed in two groups of three, playing each other once in the group. The winner and runner-up of each group will advance to the semi-finals.

The tournament, which runs from December 14-22, initially had all of its matches scheduled for the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue, but due to the inclement weather, a shift could be made the Guyana Football Federation’s National Training Centre at Providence.

An official word will be made by the organisers on Thursday (December 12).
