Surama student killed in Rupununi accident
A 16-year-old student of the Bina Hill Secondary School in Annai, North Rupununi was on Wednesday killed after he lost control of his motorcycle in trying to avoid crashing into a vehicle.
Dead is Danillo Allicock of Surama Village, also in the North Rupununi.
According to reports, Allicock was proceeding at a fast rate east along the right side of the road with a so far unknown pillion rider on the Annai main road when he tried to swerve from a vehicle that was going in the opposite direction on the same side of the road.
Allicock ran off the road and into the vegetation nearby; he received injuries to his head and remained unconscious. Reports are that the pillion then picked up the motorcycle and fled the scene leaving Allicock motionless.
The teen was found by a passerby who contacted the Annai Police Station. The ambulance was alerted and Allicock was taken to the Lethem Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
