Local Animal rescue and adoption organization Paws for a Cause is in the process of raising funds to provide further care for rescued animals as well as to fund the construction of an animal shelter.
The organization on Wednesday received land at Den Amstel, West Coast Demerara and Paradise, East Coast Demerara to build shelters through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Public Infrastructure.
As a result Paws for a Cause is looking to build the first of the two shelters to house and care for recused animals. To achieve this goal, the organization is seeking the public’s support.
On Saturday, the organization will be hosting its first fundraising event called “Paws Christmas Market.”
“We’re inviting pet lovers to come out bring your pet and come spend some time with us there will be games food and trampolines, even Santa will be there,” said Paws for a Cause Director Marcia Tucker.
The entrance to GCC Tarmac will be open to the public at 15:00 hrs for the exhibition.
Tickets cost $1000 for adults while children pay $500. They can be purchased from the Mattai’s Supermarket, King’s Jewelry World, Pawsum Pets and any member of the Paws for a Cause team. Tickets can also be purchased at the gate.
The News Room was told that one lucky ticket holder will win a trip to Kaieteur Falls.
Along with the trip to Kaieteur Falls, prizes will be given out to the best-dressed pet and owner.
The Paws Christmas market is set be a festive exhibition and fair that will connect pet owners with creative local pet care and supplies experts as well as provide a fun environment for the family to visit.
“Come out and I guarantee you a wonderful time.
“If you’ not feeling festive the Christmas Market will put you in a festive mood, Santa Paws will be there and even some of our little foster babies,” Tucker stated.
