Stanleytown man killed in accident

Two motorcycles collided on the Main road at New Amsterdam, Berbice on Sunday, leaving a 28-year-old man dead and another in a serious condition at the New Amsterdam public hospital.

According to police information, 28-year-old Deen Grenville and 36-year-old Rodrick Ageeday, both of Stanleytown, New Amsterdam, were driving their motorcycles at a fast rate on the main road when they lost control and collided.

The accident occurred at about 15:00hrs on Sunday.

As a result of the accident, they both received injuries and were picked up and rushed to the New Amsterdam public hospital.

Ageeday was admitted a patient at the hospital with fractures to the body.

However, Grenville who was unconscious and suffered a fractured skull, injuries about the body and bleeding in the lungs, was transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC). Police said he died at the GPHC  at about 02:00hrs on Monday without regaining consciousness.
