A 20-year-old man was on Monday sentenced to three months imprisonment for robbing a man with a disability at the North East La Penitence Night Shelter.

Andre Chapel was on trial before City Magistrate Rhondel Weaver and was found guilty of the offence, which stated that on December 1, 2019, he stole a cell phone and charger valued $19,500 from Gordon Ross.

The court heard that Chapel and Ross are known to each other as they both reside at the Night Shelter; Ross has a disability and is wheelchair-bound.

On the day in question, Ross paid Chapel G$100 to pick up his clothes and place it in his room during which Chapel stole the phone and charger.

The matter was reported to the Police and Chapel was arrested and charged.
