Top Cop opens reading and research library at Leonora Police Station

The Guyana Police Force is getting on board with the government’s thrust to make Guyana an educated nation by launching a library in Region Three, the Department of Public Information Monday reported.

The Leslie James Reading and Research Library was the brainchild of the current police commissioner whose name it bears.

James had served as Divisional Commander for Region Three and had noted at the sod-turning for the facility that an educated police force would strengthen community relations.

“Education is a focus in our country right now and that is very good. We in the police force must take advantage of the many available educational opportunities and that is why I support and encourage all ranks to pursue higher learning,” Commissioner James said.

The library is also open to the public with books in the fields of Mathematics, English, Science, Human Psychology, Poetry and opinionated writings already on its shelves.

Persons who are interested in donating books to the library can do so by visiting the Leonora Police Station.
