Man killed, other stabbed in face in bizarre attack in the dark at Port Kaituma

A teen miner was killed and another man was stabbed to the face in a bizarre incident on Christmas Eve night in Port Kaituma, North West District. 

Dead is Neville Moonsammy, 19, a gold miner who resided at Four Miles, Port Kaituma. Police said he was killed by persons or person unknown at about 22:00 hrs at Four Miles Main Access Road, Port Kaituma.

Police reported that Moonsammy and his father, Neville Moonsammy Sr., 47, and others including another gold miner, Keon Hutson, 20, of Port Kaituma, went to a shop at Four Miles where they began imbibing.

At about 22:00 hrs, when Moonsammy Sr., became intoxicated, they all left for their residence.

Huston claimed that he and the young Moonsammy were talking to two females a short distance from each other; then,  the younger Moonsammy ran towards him, holding his left hand which was bleeding. Within minutes, Hutson claimed persons attacked him in the dark and stabbed him in the face. 

The men were taken to the Port Kaituma Community Hospital where Moonsammy was pronounced dead on arrival.

Hutson is presently admitted at the same hospital in a stable condition. He has a deep wound running from his forehead to nose, according to the police.

Police said a person of interest is in custody assisting with the investigation.
