Storm Bird and TNT won big on Boxing Day when the Kennard’s Memorial Turf Club (KMTC) held its annual year-end horse race meet at the Bush Lot Farm, Corentyne, race track.

Storm Bird of the Rising Sun Racing Stables copped the day’s main event- the Metro Million Mile- sponsored by Metro Office and Computer Supplies.

With Trinidadian Jockey Razack on the saddle, Storm Bird stormed to victory in the one-mile event to give its handlers the one million dollars first prize and bragging rights. Golden Blue Echo finished second and Settling Star third, while pre-race favourite Lucky Star ended fourth.

In the day’s main supporting race- the H and Lower sponsored by Continental Group of Companies through its trusted Torginol Paints- TNT of the Nand Persaud Racing Stables was a comfortable winner.

TNT easily won the seven-furlong event, to cop the $250,000 first prize and the Torginol Paints trophy, while Goodwill Boy and Not This Time took second and third respectively.

The opening race- the L Non-Winners for 2018-2019- was won by Red Weasel ahead of Perfect Return and Osana. Red Weasel’s winnings were $150,000 and a trophy sponsored by Karran and Son Hardware Dealers.

Awesome Bandit won the top prize of $200,000 and the KSM Investments trophy in the Two-year-old Guyana-bred maiden event, leaving Perfect Pleasure to take second and She’s A Maneater third.

The L-Class Open race was won by Secret Flyer, who took home the $170,000 cash incentive and the Ivanoff trophy, while Awesome Banner, Place Land and Irish Boy followed to the finish line in that sequence.

In the hotly-contested L-Class Non-Earners, Magaline emerged winner, claiming $130,000 and the Rohan’s Auto Spares trophy, followed by De Wicket Cat in second and Osana third.

The event brought the curtains down on the 2019 horse-race season.
