Police have arrested two men shortly after they robbed two foreigners of their cell phones at about 09:50hrs at Longden Street, Georgetown.
However, the stolen items were not recovered as they were believed to have been misplaced during a chase.
In a statement from the Guyana Police Force, it was disclosed that the incident was witnessed by public-spirited citizens who called 911 and the information was filtered via-VHF Network to ranks on bicycle patrol in the Stabroek Area.
The ranks immediately proceeded to the location where both suspects were pointed out to them by the victims and public-spirited citizens.
A chase ensued and one of the men was apprehended while the other attacked the ranks with a cutlass. He later surrendered after repeated warnings by one of the ranks who also resorted to discharging a warning shot in the air.
The police promised that a further update will be given.
