Everest Cricket Club held its annual awards ceremony on Saturday evening when the club’s consistent performers of 2019 were given recognition for a splendid season throughout the various categories.
It was simple yet significant ceremony for the budding talents of the Everest Club at the Camp Road home. Another awards ceremony paid homage to some impressive performances over the season.
No surprise, Richie Looknauth copped the best all-rounder prize after compiling 460 runs and capturing 21 wickets from his returns in both second and first division, while left-arm spinner Javed Rasheed was deemed most consistent cricketer.
Former West Indies Under-19 leg-spinner Amir Khan had the most wickets (37), while Ronaldo Renee had 130 runs. It is worth noting, only two two-day first-division matches were played.
Dwayne Adams (440 runs) and Raylex Payne (18 wickets) were best batsman and bowler for second-division.
In the junior category, Usherdeva Balgobin had 320 runs and Raynaldo Mohamed had 15 wickets.
National U-15 opener Anthony Khan was presented with a medal and pair of gloves.
Bats were presented to the top batsmen for each division. This was done by Hafeez Ali of Rockaway Group. Gloves were presented to junior cricketers who performed well.
Club President Manzoor Nadir applauded the cricketers for their effort to make Everest the best and also thanked the numerous support from sponsors.
Among some of the distinguished guests were British High Commissioner Greg Quinn, Political Counsellor to the High Commissioner of India, R.K Perindia, Arun Gupta, Manager of Bank of Baroda and K.A Juman-Yassin, President of the Guyana Olympic Association, and former president of Everest.
