Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the stabbing of construction worker Gary Craigen early Wednesday.
Craigen, 36, of Westminster, West Bank Demerara was on the Plaisance Bus Park in the vicinity of Bank of Baroda when he was stabbed to the left side chest by an unknown male.
Police reported that the incident occurred at about 02:30hrs.
The suspect, armed with a sharp object, was involved in a scuffle with Craigen just as persons were boarding a minibus.
The suspect escaped south along Avenue of the Republic after the incident.
Craigen was picked up in an unconscious state by Emergency Medical Technicians and rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
While he regained consciousness, his condition is listed as serious.
