Magistrate Annette Singh on Thursday dismissed a case brought against a former housekeeper who was accused of stealing $195,000 from Minister Simona Broomes.

The Magistrate upheld the no-case submission by attorney Everton Singh Lammy that there was insufficient evidence of the accused, Donetta Rajkumar to lead a defence in the case.

Rajkumar was charged in May of last year. The woman, of Westminster, La Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara (WBD) had pleaded not guilty to the charge.

She was accused of stealing the money from Broomes’ house between March 6 and 7, 2019, at Lodge Housing Scheme, Georgetown.

Singh-Lammy had argued that six other persons occupy the house and also have access to it.
