Guyana Defence Force emerged champions of the Guyana Football Federation’s year-end Super 16 competition after getting past Elite League champions Fruta Conquerors in the final on Wednesday evening.

Playing at the GFC ground, Bourda, the army men needled the Tucville-based Conquerors through a solitary strike from Benjamin Opara in the 59th minute.

That goal secured GDF the two million dollars cash prize and their name on the trophy designed and built by local company Brass Aluminum and Cast Iron Foundry.

In the third place playoff, Police edged Santos 3-2. Trayon Bobb, William Europe and Trevon Lythcott scored for Police, while Santos two goals came off the cleats of Orin Yarde.

The tournament was the last on the GFF calendar for 2019, and involved the eight Elite League teams and another eight from Regional Members Association.
