Men run away from police, leave motorcycle behind after discharging firearm

Police are hunting for two men who escaped on foot, leaving their motorcycle behind, after discharging a firearm at about 02:01hrs on Wednesday along James Street, Albouystown, Georgetown.

According to police information, a party of policemen were on mobile patrol in Albouystown when they observed a black and red motorcycle #CH 9581 proceeding ahead of them.

The pillion rider reportedly withdrew a firearm from the waist of his pants and discharged a round in the air. As a result, the ranks gave Chase and the driver stopped the motorcycle.

However, the pillion rider made good his escape in a southern direction through an alley leading to Punt Trench while the driver escaped in the opposite direction.

Ranks approached the motorcycle which was left behind and found a silver colour .45 Taurus pistol with four live .45 rounds of ammunition.

The firearm was examined and it was observed that the serial number was filed off.

The firearm and ammunition along with the motorcycle were taken to the Brickdam Police Station where they were all lodged pending further investigations.
