Digicel CEO New Consul to the Netherlands 

With the recent appointment of Honorary Consul General to the Netherlands, Gregory Dean, Guyana will be enhancing relations with the European country.

This is according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Karen Cummings, presented the Certificate of Exequatur to Dean on Thursday, appointing him Honorary Consul General.

Dean is the Regional and Country Chief Executive Officer of Digicel.

Dean on his appointment expressed keen interest in enhancing relations between the two countries in areas such as business, tourism, and capacity building among others.

Guyana and the Kingdom of the Netherlands established diplomatic relations on May 15, 1970.

The Netherlands has provided technical assistance to Guyana in several instances, including the 2005 flooding during which Dutch expertise on dams aided in the development of a task force that made relevant recommendations to the Government.
