Labourer remanded for murder of shopkeeper over monkey
A 57-year-old labourer who was arrested for the murder of a Plaisance, East Coast Demerara (ECD) shopkeeper, was remanded to prison.
Samuel Cummings called Dougla was arrested on January 06 for the murder of Sharon Burnette which occurred just after midnight Sunday.
Cummings appeared at the Sparendaam Magistrate Court on Thursday before Magistrate Liverpool where he was charged with the offence Murder, Contrary to Common Law.
He was not required to plead to the indictable charge. The matter was adjourned until February 06.
Fifty-three-year-old Burnett of 47 Graham Street Plaisance E.C.D was stabbed to death, reportedly by Cummings, after he accused her of using her monkey to steal from him.
Cummings served time in prison for murder and was out on parole at the time of the incident.
