A 26-year-old labourer of Foulis, East Coast Demerara (ECD) was killed during a brawl at a wedding house on the East Coast on Sunday.
Dead is Rudendra Persaud.
Police said Persaud was severely beaten at a wedding house at Non Pariel Main Road, ECD, allegedly by two known suspects.
Initial investigations revealed that Persaud was at his relative’s wedding when the family was approached by two men who started to assault family members.
Persaud reportedly intervened and was dealt numerous lashes about his head and body by the suspects who were both armed with large pieces of wood.
He collapsed and was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation in an unconscious state where he was treated but later succumbed to his injuries.
The suspects fled the scene and have not yet been arrested.
