Terrence Pitt, called Sonna Boy or Shots, was on Tuesday charged for the murder of Georgetown Magistrates’ Court tout Darrell Breedy, who was gunned down in his North Ruimveldt, Georgetown home last year during a robbery.
Pitt, 27, of Third Street Timehri, East Bank Demerara appeared before Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus at the Georgetown Magistrates Court and was not required to plea to the capital offence.
Particulars of the charge alleged that on October 5, 2019, at Hummingbird Street, North Ruimveldt he murdered Breedy during the furtherance or course of a robbery.
Pitt was also charged for escaping from the Criminal Investigation Department Headquarters at Eve Leary, Georgetown between November 11 and November 12,2019 while being in custody.
He pleaded not guilty to that charge.
Pitt is to return to court on January 29, 2020 before the Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan.
According to reports Breedy, a father of two, who was shot in the abdomen when masked bandits entered his house at around 03:00hrs on October 5, 2019.
The News Room understands that the bandits gained entry to the two-storey house through a window at the bottom right side of the house.
The bandits carted a television set and GY$11,000. Breedy was shot after he put up a fight with the two armed bandits.
Pitt was arrest by police in November and was taken to CID Headquarters, where he escaped. A wanted bulletin was issued for his arrest and he was arrested last week.
